Aim of the meeting

The main aim is demystifying the production of applications and the use of new media. This will be done working with expert developers that have a background in system development. By demonstrating the way that apps can be made will show that they can be used by anyone and the knowledge and skills introduced will encourage the participants to welcome new media into their interpretive work.
This activity will demistify the process making it accessible to the higher education institutions’ practitioners and encourage them to appreciate how these new methods of interaction and the usage of them.

20th June:
During the Learn and Exchange Pécs LTT meeting, participants actively engaged in exploring the role of ICT and MOOCs and their impact on educationalists and learners. The meeting fostered an environment of experiential learning, where participants had the opportunity to learn through hands-on activities and ‘learning by doing.’ This approach provided a rich and immersive learning experience that was intense yet well-supported by thorough preparation.

One significant aspect of the meeting was the exploration of various features of Moodle, a widely used learning management system. Participants delved into topics such as feedback mechanisms, assessment tools, and the utilization of templates. Through practical exercises and demonstrations, they gained a deeper understanding of how these features can enhance the learning experience and facilitate effective online instruction.

The session on feedback emphasized the importance of providing timely and constructive feedback to learners, allowing them to track their progress and make necessary improvements. Participants learned how to use Moodle’s feedback features effectively, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative assessments to provide comprehensive feedback to learners.

Assessment methods and tools were also extensively covered during the meeting. Participants explored different assessment techniques supported by Moodle, such as quizzes, assignments, and interactive activities. They learned how to design and implement assessments that align with learning objectives and cater to diverse learning styles and preferences.

The utilization of templates in Moodle was another key area of focus. Participants discovered the benefits of using templates to streamline course development, saving time and effort while ensuring consistency and coherence across instructional materials. They gained hands-on experience in customizing templates to suit their specific needs and preferences, empowering them to create engaging and well-structured online learning environments.

The comprehensive exploration of Moodle’s advanced features equipped participants with practical skills and knowledge to effectively leverage the platform for educational purposes. By embracing these features, participants are better prepared to design engaging and interactive online courses that promote active learning and facilitate meaningful interactions between educators and learners.

Overall, the active exploration of ICT and MOOCs, combined with the in-depth study of Moodle’s advanced features, enabled participants to deepen their understanding of the potential of technology in education. The experiential learning approach adopted during the meeting ensured that participants were actively engaged and equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to enhance their educational practices and embrace the benefits of new media and technology.

21th June:
During the meeting, the participants engaged in a thorough discussion regarding the content of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). The MOOC is designed to comprise six modules, carrying a value of 6 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). Consequently, each individual module will be assigned 1 ECTS. It was decided that each module would span a duration of 26 hours, encompassing both lectures and exercises.

The focus then shifted towards deliberating the structure of the different modules. To ensure efficiency and avoid redundancy, each partner presented an overview of the content they proposed. The selected themes for the modules are outlined below:

1.           Data Management & Visualization

2.           Digital Literacy

3.           Digitisation of Cultural Heritage

4.           Information Organization and Access

5.           News Literacy: Spotting and Combating Disinformation

6.           User Experience Design

By selecting these themes, the participants aim to address a wide range of topics and provide comprehensive knowledge and skills to the learners of the MOOC.

The Next meeting will take place in Paris on the 7 and 8 november 2023.
