L'\u00e9tude a \u00e9mis l'hypoth\u00e8se que les diff\u00e9rences entre les pays en mati\u00e8re de syst\u00e8mes scolaires, de d\u00e9veloppement socio-\u00e9conomique, de culture ou d'autres facteurs pouvaient avoir une influence sur les formats pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9s, imprim\u00e9s ou \u00e9lectroniques, pour la lecture acad\u00e9mique, ainsi que sur les comportements d'engagement des \u00e9tudiants dans l'apprentissage. Les principales conclusions sont que le pays d'origine n'a que peu ou pas de relation ou d'effet sur les pr\u00e9f\u00e9rences des \u00e9tudiants universitaires en mati\u00e8re de format de lecture, et que la grande majorit\u00e9 des \u00e9tudiants du monde entier pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent lire les supports de cours acad\u00e9miques sur papier. La majorit\u00e9 des participants indiquent qu'ils se concentrent mieux sur les informations pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es sous forme imprim\u00e9e et les retiennent mieux, et qu'ils pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent plus souvent l'imprim\u00e9 pour les textes plus longs. D'autres analyses d\u00e9mographiques et post-hoc sugg\u00e8rent que la pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence de format a une faible relation avec le rang acad\u00e9mique. La relation entre les exigences de la t\u00e2che, les pr\u00e9f\u00e9rences de format et la compr\u00e9hension de la lecture est discut\u00e9e.
