Copyright Literacy Survey (CoLIS)
Through this survey we aimed to collect data about the knowledge and awareness of LIS students regarding copyright related issues in different countries and determine the gap, if any, in their knowledge to built up recommandations for LIS education.
The copyright literacy survey originated in Bulgaria and was the work of Dr Tania Todorova, Professor at the State University of Library Studies and Information Technologies, Sofia, Bulgaria. She was funded by the National Science Fund of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science to carry out a survey to investigate copyright policies and the levels of knowledge among librarians. The survey was extended in 2014 to France, Turkey and Croatia and the findings presented at ECIL 2014. This is where we first discovered the international work. Since this date the copyright literacy survey has been carried out in 10 other countries – Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Spain, United Kingdom and the USA.
